Symbolism

On the bottom of 134 (chapter 7),  Heyward, Hawkeye, and Uncas all kill a man at the same time, using different methods.  What's this all about?? What does this symbolize???

  1. I want to say that the different styles themselves reflect how the charactor. Heyward shots his pistol which is quick and deadly, Hawkeye shots his long rifle which is cautious and time consuming yet right on the mark. Uncas uses his knife which emplys personal and artistic.
